Project 2025 is NOW Being Enacted

In a nutshell, the first thing autocrats do when they want to hijack a democratic republic is –eliminate the government work force (government employees are civil servants, who take an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States) and then replace them with people beholden to Donald Trump. You might say, “they can’t do that, it’s against the law” but that’s exactly the point. With Trump as president his actions become law. The Supreme Court decided in July 2024 that Trump has presumptive immunity for all actions taken as president. So, once he replaces civil servants with his lackeys, he can then start removing or starving governmental agencies such as:
Department of Education, FEMA (the cost of disaster relief would shift to the states), EPA, VA, HUD, CDC, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (remember Trump changing the path of a hurricane with a Sharpie), Food and Drug Administration (it’ll be like a miracle, no one will ever be sick again), National Institute of Health (reproductive health care would not exist, even going as far to prohibit contraception), Medicare, and Medicaid.
Furthermore, Project 2025 will declare public unions illegal and take away union rights. Plans call for making it easier to discriminate against all minorities (the Supreme Court dismantled key points in the Voting Rights Act back in 2013).
Project 2025 ends the independence of the Department of Justice and other agencies under them: FBI, DEA, BATFE, the Marshall’s Service, and the Federal Bureau of Prisons among others, so that these two agencies have no choice but to do what Trump tells them to do. The agencies have always been independent as part of our system of checks and balances.
By this time nearly all of us will have conformed to life under an autocracy, but just in case a few brave souls decide to protest, Trump can call out the military to suppress the dissent. There is a posse comitatus act preventing a president from turning the military on its own citizens but considering all the law breaking engendered by Project 2025, there is no reason to believe this couldn’t be done.
