Defend Amendment 3

Lincoln County Dems went to Jeff City on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, to rally for reproductive rights. Here is the simplest explanation of why there has been no reopening of clinics, why doctors must still fear treating their pregnant patients, and why women needing reproductive care must travel to blue states. In spite of 1,538,659 Missouri voters passing Amendment 3 last November, this medical procedure cannot happen until legislators add regulation to the amendment and if the speaker of the house does not schedule legislation, none will occur. They can then adjourn in May having done nothing and push it off until the fall session.

Mid-term elections (2026) – attend LCDC monthly meetings so that you know what offices are available. Lincoln County courthouse positions pay extremely well. Consider being a candidate. Club officers and Central Committee officers prepare information so you don’t have to. It’s a waste of time for 30 or 50 or 100 people to do research individually. The work is done for you – this is just one of the many services you receive for your $20 yearly dues.

Attend meetings – school board, county commission, city hall. You don’t have to say anything, just be there. It’s fun to eavesdrop. Go to Jeff City, email and call your representatives.

Things are turning ugly, so we post about MAGAs losing their jobs, their health insurance, farmers being financially pinched because of the Project 2025 farm bill. Spread the word about their misery. The 25,000 MAGA voters in Lincoln County need to own the nightmare they’ve created.

Gather your communities. Being alone works against your best interests.

Find one or two issues that are core to you and work to protect them. You won’t be able to follow everything. (Pick an interest — find two or three others to work on this with you.)

Read “On Tyranny” by Timothy D. Snyder (really quick read overall). It is largely a guide to resistance in a list of 20 lessons explained.

Use caution going forward in what you share, where you share it, and with whom.

Support and join other groups that are already doing the work needed: St. Charles Democrats, attend labor meetings, NAACP, ACLU, Southern Poverty Law, Sierra Club, International Institute – St. Louis, Missourians for Constitutional Freedom, etc. They are going to get slammed.
